Petersen, Peter

Having spent most of his life in developing traditional form of oil painting with a feeling of colours like music, known as synaesthesia, I quite naturally, in the early nineties, started to use a computer. It felt almost like another musical instrument. Despite the learning of how to use it properly, including sometimes even programming, but also putting colours together in scales i.e. to sort of tune the instrument, it felt a little bit like music and sound, even though quite different.

What has then brought me, now as the latest, to some form of four-dimensional painting, and neither a film nor a video, but something absolutely new? And indeed, thanks to the computer mainly as a calculator, solving a problems in painting and in mathematics, of yet another dimension come in, ever since in the Renaissance the discovery of the perspective.
